SmogScanner is built for California smog-check stations and car owners. This policy describes what we collect and how we use it.
What we collect
- Scans. When you scan a plate or VIN, we look the vehicle up against public and licensed vehicle data sources to return specs, smog-check requirements, and inspection history. Free scans don’t require an account.
- Account data. If you create an account (station owners and staff), we store your name, email, and station affiliation.
- Station records. Work orders, customers, vehicles, and invoices you create in the app are stored on our infrastructure so they sync across your devices. They belong to your station and we don’t sell or share them.
- Usage data. Basic analytics about how the app is used, so we can improve it.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell your data.
- We don’t share station records with third parties except the service providers that host our infrastructure.
- We don’t use your data to train AI models.

You may request access to, or deletion of, the personal information we hold about you. Account deletion is available in the app and removes your personal data from our systems.
